Thea and Gloria worked really hard on the script for this movie. Then the boys came along and really brought it to life.

This is our entry for the I Am Making Movies 3 competition run by the Auckland Museum.

Today My Life Begins

 All the kids in Room 13 had the chance to make movies for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. They had to form their own groups, plan, film and edit without any teacher help.
Miss King thought that they had all done such an amazing job, that on the last day of term 3, room 13 hosted their own film festival. All the movies that the kids had made were shown and we ate popcorn and had iceblocks and chocolate!
The two best movies were selected for the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Well done to Iisa, Shalom, Sosaia, Jordan and Paula for all their hard work.

Room 13 entered the KWN Panasonic Storyboard competition last term. Today we found out that we had been chosen as one of the best 20 entries.
Paul from Panasonic came to present us with our prize - a brand new Panasonic camera, microphones and a memory card.
The next step for Room 13 is to create the movie from our storyboard and enter it into the movie competition.

Olympic Theme Songs

As a part of our learning about the Olympic Games, we have compared two different Games' songs with the Olympic Ideal promoted by Pierre de Coubertin in 1896. These music videos present what we found out.

The Spider - A Guest Post

Room 13 is very lucky to have Mia occasionally spend time in our class. She visits us when she comes to Auckland. Today is the last day of Term 2 and Mia is with us again. 

During the holidays the walls in our classroom are being replaced. Because of this we had to spend this morning ripping all the old fabric off the walls. 

Unbeknownst to us, a very large spider has been living underneath all that fabric. 

In the corner of our class room there was a black spider, it was huge and he is called Mr Blacky. He had big crawly arms and was very slow, yet fast at the same time.
Mr Blacky had a very nice home until the end of the term. Because we came and ripped all of his spider web off. Now Mr Blacky is very cross and he was waving his arms around.
That's how angry he is.

This movie has been made by the kids in our class to highlight some of the ways that we can help in our classroom. We watched a movie on Youtube called "The Kindness Boomerang" and wanted to try it ourselves. We love the idea that kindness comes back to find you after you share it with others.

Our first MTV of the year and Miss King had NOTHING to do with it. Mary, Sela, Jordenne, Thea and Iron worked hard together to plan, film and edit this very cool video. We can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Being a Great Learner

 Room 13 is FINALLY back for 2012. We have been so super busy getting acquainted with our new netbooks, and are very exciting to be learning with them.
 We spent some time during our first few days of school deciding what qualities a great learner might have. We then decided to display our favourite on a special tree. Each tree was created collaboratively. This means that we helped each other and worked together sharing our best ideas to reach a fabulous outcome.
