The Hueys

In class, we read the story about The Hueys and the New Jumper. As a class we decided that the message of the story was that it is pretty cool to be different and if you do then you could maybe one day even change the world.
The amazing Alosina (our super Uni student) came in to help us create our own story about The Hueys.

The Man

These men have just had their first go at lip syncing. Not a bad effort at all.

A Summer's Day

On the second to last day of summer, Class 12 felt confident enough to tackle a task independently, away from the confines of the classroom. We were using Explain Everything to record our Bonds to Ten.
On this bright, sunny day some kids went outside to find a quiet place to record. As you can hear, the cicadas wanted no part of that and "Audio bombed" Chastyti's Bonds to 10.

We wanted to share with you the fun ways we can enjoy our learning in all sorts of places.

See how focused Deavay is on his task while enjoying the cool breeze outside.

20 Things Pt Englanders Should Say More Often.

In response to Kid President's latest clip about 20 Things We Should Say More Often - Room 15 made their own version for Pt England. This group put a nice spin on the idea by including some of their brothers, sisters and cousins.

The Swap - Manaiakalani Film Festival

Gloria, Kaycee and Tyla began writing the story for this movie back in May. Originally the story involved many characters with intertwined stories. It was really quite elaborate. Upon storyboarding the shots, the girls discovered that we needed far longer than 3minutes to be able to tell the complete story. Therefore, we decided to cut back the story to simply two of the characters but maintain the intertwined storyline as best we could.
The most fun part was certainly choosing songs to be able to convey the message and tell the story - we hope we did a good job.
Because of really clear storyboarding, filming was a breeze - not to mention having great actors in Isara and Tyla.
Editing really was the trickiest part of the whole process. After saving every fourth frame of the filming, importing the jpegs to Hyperstudio, they built an animation around each scene. This became quite confusing and certainly time consuming. The girls had to think really carefully about the scenes, the animation and the message.
Eventually each animation was imported into iMovie and the story began to take shape.
The whole process of putting together this movie was long and involved, but Miss King is super proud that we were able to tackle this new technique in movie making.

Safer Journeys - Walking to School

When looking at road safety, the kids in room 15 knew that concentrating on walking was a good idea as most Pt Englanders live within walking distance of school. Studamyer, Jesiah, Potaua and Rocky made this movie to enter the Mix and Mash Awards. They received a commended prize.

The Prospective Student

During our literacy time the whole intermediate school has been having the opportunity to get creative with their writing tasks. This week Room 15 had the chance to turn our writing into fantastic movies. This movie by Isara, Rocky, Jabez and Jesiah certainly captured the audience's attention at our Friday showcase. Great job boys.

Share it Maybe

Our favourite part of learning most definitely has to be sharing our creations. Does this song say it all?
