Michael Jackson Tribute

We made this movie on Friday the 25th of June 2010 because we celebrated the 1 year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. We planned our moves for his song Black Or White and we practiced it to get it right for his anniversary.

Today we made a Michael Jackson movie called Black or White because today is the 1 year anniversary of his death.It was cool making movies and fun.We worked in pairs and planned our things. Once we finished planning we practiced our moves.

I Am Making Movies Awards Night

Room 14 had entered a movie competition and it was time for the awards ceremony.
Yesterday at 2:45 pm we went in the bus to go to the museum. In the bus Dillon, Kingston, Samuela and I were sitting together getting smart to each other. As we were looking out the motor way we saw a red car and Dillon said ''All goods brother'' to it and we were laughing .

Finally we arrived at the museum.As we got out Miss King was freezing so she was holding me because I was warm.Then she said to the kapa haka group ''We are going in first." The kapa haka group had to stay in the coldness. Me and my movie group were excited, but man it was hot inside.

We got in the theatre room and the kapa haka group were on stage. They looked like choirs but with out the funky dresses and the scary faces when they were performing. They sang four traditionnal songs that were important and supporting us.

We had won the best story telling movie because we were just the bomb. It was exciting when we won because Dillon, Kingston, Ramona, Mary L, Samuela and I got to go on stage and show off our clothes. I got to do a speech because I was the chattiest one out of all of us.

Afther the ceremony we ate some food,like fruit kebabs. The one with the pineapple was yuck because it was sour. The drink washed it down and it had a delightful taste

I think that the museum movie competion was actually wicked and awesome.

I am making movies Awards

We entered the 'I am making movies' competition, that was run by our Auckland Museum. We won the creative story telling section! This movie is from the Awards evening, held yesterday at the Auckland Museum. You will see here our year 7 Kapahaka group who opened the evening. This is followed by us - the talented Room 14 Actors who were in the winning movie. Thanks to all the fantastic people who helped us with this movie. Click here to watch our movie.

He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata

We made this movie as part of a competition for the Auckland Museum. Lots of schools from all over Auckland entered the competition. We were delighted to find out that we had made the finals. We got to go to the awards ceremony at the museum too. Keisha Castle-Hughes even gave out the prizes!
The idea of our movie is that even though technology has changed throughout the years, people are still the most important thing in our lives.
All of us enjoyed making the movie. We were so excited to find out that we had won the most Creative Storytelling category. We think our movie is just AWESOME - What do you think?

A Sunny Friday Afternoon

What better way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon, than to play a huge game of Capture the Flag. PES Team 4 (150 students) all got together to see whether it would be the year 5s or year 6s who could capture the flag. It was an intense game with year 5 triumphing over the "big kids"! It seems that speed and agility won out over size today.
What a great game to end the week.

Story Sculptures Volcano Report

A volcano is an opening in the earth's crust, through which lava, ash and gases flow. The word volcano comes from the Roman god of fire - Vulcan.
A volcano erupts when the pressure inside the earth builds up and needs to escape. Molten rock, in the mantle, heats up. The magma chamber fills up, then the magma pushes up the vent and out of the crater.
There are three main types of the volcano. One is a cinder cone another a shield or a composite. The most dangerous one is composite volcano because it erupts violently with lava and ash. A volcano can be active,dormant (sleeping) or extinct.
A volcanic eruption can be both destructive and beneficial. Falling ash is dangerous to aeroplanes, can cover buildings and make it hard to breathe. Lava flows and lahars destroy everthing in their paths. However, sometimes eruptions can creature new fertile land.
Ash,lava and gas from deep inside the earth can be very destructive and dangerous during a volcano eruption. However if we are careful we can enjoy the benfits of new land and fertile soil.
