Our Volcano Song

Take a look at our cool song. Listen carefully - our lyrics have been carefully written and we are proud of our song.

Sing a Song about Volcanoes

We are so amazingly awesome that instead of writing stories about our learning we write songs and make movies. It's so much more fun and you know what? We remember more of it too!

Singalong Volcano Songs

We wrote our song during our immersion week of Active Earth. We learnt so much in just 2 days and we wanted a fun way to share our learning.

MTV Volcano

We wrote songs about what we had learnt about volcanoes.
We reckon this is a choice way to help you remember facts and to show off all the great stuff that we learnt.

How do you say that again?

So the whole world has been wondering, how on earth do we actually say - Ejyafjallajokull?
Luckily our teacher knows some lovely Icelandic people and they have helped us out to try and learn.
We can only say that we tried our best - fingers crossed it's nearly good enough!

Sesalina's Story About Pressure

On Monday afternoon Miss King gave us one balloon each to show how a volcano erupts. As we were starting blowing our balloons, I let my go and it flew around my face and landed on my feet.
The pressure in the balloon blows and pop just like when the volcano explodes and the ash and lava comes out of the volcano.

Click here to watch a movie all about what we got up to.

Kingston Learns About Volcanic Pressure

Yesterday we were blowing up balloons to see how much air pressure a balloon could handle.
We blew and blew and filled the balloons. Too much air increases the pressure and like the magma in a volcano it needs to be released. A balloon will burst or fly around the room if the pressure gets too high.
Inside the Volcano the magma gets bigger and bigger and it looks for the crater to escape. When the magma comes out it is lava that can go hard and the ash clouds go all over the sky.

James' Story About Volcanic Pressure

On Monday afternoon, Room 14 had been learning about pressure by blowing up long thin balloons. As room 14 was blowing there thin balloons they were puffing, blowing and straining. With no warning the pressure caused the balloon to pop just like a volcano exploding.
We learnt about how magma can heat up inside the magma chamber, pressure builds and explodes like an active volcano.

Onosai learns about Volcanic Pressure

On Monday afternoon Miss King handed out balloons and asked us if we can show pressure by blowing up a balloon. So we huffed and puffed and it got bigger and bigger and my one popped. When the volcano shakes that means pressure is building and it is going to explode. And lava, gas, smoke and ashes come out of the volcano and ash clouds block the sky.

Eleva Learns About Pressure

On Monday afternoon we blew up balloons to learn about pressure with room 14. Next I huffed and puffed to blow up my balloons. After lunch time we stood up and let the balloons fly around. Sometimes lava comes from the ground. It is hot and magma heats up in a volcano.

Jesiah Learns about Pressure

On Monday afternoon Miss King handed out balloons so we could learn about pressure When we blew up our balloon we were puffing and straining. Then we blew it bigger and bigger and we let it go and it made a squeaking sound.
Inside a balloon the air builds pressure just like the magma in a volcano. But when the pressure rises to be released. Magma, gas, smoke and ash come out of the vent and out the crater.

Turuhira Volcano

On Monday Morning Miss King gave out balloons to room 14. I was struggling, huffing and puffing as my balloon expanded and my face went red like I might explode. Room 14's balloons popped like lava coming out of a volcano.
Magma heats up inside the magma chamber and there is too much pressure and it is released like air the in a ballon. Magma, smoke, gas and ash spew out of the volcano as it erupts.

Iva learns about pressure.

On Monday afternoon Miss King handed out balloons. She told us to blow air in the balloons to show pressure like in a volcano. When the magma heats up it needs to find way to escape. Smoke, ash and lava come out of the volcano.

Samuela Learns about Pressure

On Monday afternoon Miss King gave Room 14 a balloon each to show pressure. As we blew the balloons we were puffing and straining hard to expand our balloons. Suddenly our balloons popped like a massive volcano exploding. The balloon made sounds like the wind.

The air in the balloon is like hot magma but in a volcano. When the magma rises and fills up the magma chamber, pressure builds and ash, smoke and magma goes up the vent then out the crater. Then the volcano explodes like fireworks.

Max learns about pressure.

On Monday Miss King gave Room 14 some balloons and then we used them to show her an example of pressure. Miss King said to Room 14 "We have to blow up our balloons." We were huffing and puffing trying to blow them up.
This is just like how the magma heats up inside the volcano. The pressure means that there can be smoke and ash coming out of the volcano and it goes up to the clouds.

Room 14 Learns about Pressure

As part of learning about our active earth, Room 14 spent an afternoon blowing up balloons. Why? Well we were being introduced to the idea of pressure building up in a volcano.
We've written some great stories about our learning to go with this movie that you will be able to read also.
